September 2017
So this month there is the inevitable weather words to
present you, news of Dragons and more than a hint of
Spring to please the eye, let me start with the newest
Dragon, his name is Fingael and he lives in the Dragons
Den Gallery under the oak tree. A sculpture long in the
planning with the stone for it being carted around the
countryside for years. He is actually a Three Tailed
Finger Dragon modelled on a ring made back in the 80’s,
gives one the feeling he is in charge of the new gallery.
Sculpted from Oamaru Stone with its rich creamy
texture complimenting the multitude of greens.

Climb to Summer with Luck
Dragons under the Oak
..... and now for the obligatory weather words, hard
bouncy rain in shades of white, apparently not seen here
like this at least for the last 40 odd years so it gets a
photo also.
Of course the vege garden was newly planted and newly
flowering orchids were somewhat pummeled....... but hey
it’s a change from shades of green. Talking of shades of
green, with copious amounts of rocks and sweat we have
created some fern gardens under the Magnolia by the
Hammer Dome, It might take a while to fill out but
certainly has tidied up the area.
The slave gets a new chair in the Hammer Dome which
sort of implies sitting instead of working might be allowed
on occasions, but really it was just an almost creative way
of hiding a big slab of wood and some old plastic, he got a
new roof as well. Rof might not quite be the correct
definition but it serves that purpose and being plastic
sheeting on plastic sheeting the space between has
become a haven for NZ Leaf Veined Slugs, all happily
feeding on the algae growing on everything, also seen
larger Weta, cockroaches and various other versions of
the undesirable..... at least to some but not i, (grin)
This months comment would not be complete without the
show of the month, especially in light of the triplet of
pink within today’s posting. Last month the carpark
cheery cherry tree was but a bundle of gauntness on a
stick so let me share with you the annual outcome of
natures candy floss flourish. So delicious really, soon to
be spread on the Spring winds as pink snow and petalled
flurries pirouetting in the sky.
